Emanuel Cohn and Carl Rosenberger started Coro in1901 as a small accessories store on Broadway in New York City. The company officially changed it's name to Coro Inc., a combination of the two names, in 1943. Coro was once one of the largest costume jewelry companies in the world and employed many distinctive designers including Adolph Katz, design director; Gene Verecchio; Oscar Placco; Robert Geissmann and Massa Raimond. 1960s Emmons White Enamel Flower Earrings

White flower petal earrings by Emmons. Gorgeous gold metal rope braiding surrounds each petal on these beautiful white enamel floral clips. 

The Emmons Jewelry Co. & Sarah Coventry. Lyman K. Stuart, son of Charles H. Stuart, founded Emmons Home Fashions in 1948, naming the company in honor of his mother, Caroline Emmons Stuart. Soon afterwards, the company's name was changed to Emmons Jewelry, Inc.

Sarah Coventry jewelry was introduced not long after the Emmons brand was born, and both lines were sold at home parties. The newer line's name honored Lyman Stuart's granddaughter, Sarah Coventry Beale (although some references claim that Sarah was his daughter). Coventry jewelry was typically less expensive than the Emmons-branded designs.

Emmons contracted with jewelry manufacturers to provide the styles the company felt its customers would purchase. Jewelry for both brands was often sold in matching sets. Sarah Coventry jewelry was most popular during the 1950s and 1960s, and continued to be offered at home parties for a few years after Emmons 1981 bankruptcy.

Vogue Jewelry was in existence from the 1930s through the 1970s. Founded by Harold Shapiro, and his two partners, Jack Gilbert and George Grant. Shapiro left the company in the early 60s. His son was one of the founders of Les Bernard.

These vintage Emmons earrings have a beautiful leaf design with very detailed enamel work. The pair is very comfortable to wear. Pat. Pending mark indicates that this pair was made prior to 1955. Silver metal setting.

The company closed in the 1970s.

Napier was founded in 1875 as Whitney and Rice, a silver company. Under the leadership of James Napier, the president of the company during the 1920s, the company was renamed in his honor and switched to producing costume jewelry The Napier brand was well known in the 40s – 70s for it’s clean, modern lines. The company is still in operation today as a holding of Jones New York producing lesser quality items.

Modernist Kramer Crackle Tile Necklace

Modernist tile necklace with distinctive crackle finish

Condition: One small section of string is missing between two links. You can see the gap in the lower left corner in the first photo.  Since each link is fastened separately no other links are affected.

1960s modernist tile choker necklace by Kramer. Rectangular links of cream thermoset plastic with gold crackle finish. Links are double strung with plastic inset in the links. Small gap between each link emphasizes the design. Gold back. Hook clasp with gold chain extender.
