This one is really interesting. 1950s half hat with a white crochet knit top with silk flowers cascading down the sides. Flowers are mauve pink, silver and bronze with a few green leaves tossed in for good measure. Hat is finished with heavy black netting. Netting falls down over the face and comes to a knot in the back. Netting can also be tucked in. Built on a buckram base. #Hat255
Half hats are a brimless shallow hat that usually sits flat on top of the crown - like an extra wide bandeau. The half hat was created by Lilly Dache, who won an American Designer award for it in 1941. Dior designed veiled half hats beginning in 1947. They remained popular during the 1950s and morphed into variations including openwork half-hats comprised of a wired piping frame with flowers, feathers or other trims.* Half hats are perfect for almost every hairstyle or face shape.
