Harry FIreside | JP179
Large surrealist brooch in the shape of an eye. Large pink tourmaline center, 18 old mine cut man-made rounds surround the center in a gild mount on sterling silver. Each stone has in a modernist gold setting. Small gold gilt balls at each corner of the round stones. Gilt rope braiding around center create an eyeliner look. Six more gilt balls at the top create an eyebrow. The design of this brooch reminds us of Dali.
Harry Fireside was a renown jewelry designer based in San Francisco. He started with jewelry as a hobby in the 1970s and by the 1980s was known for jade, pearls and tourmaline jewelry. His designs were influenced by his love of Asia, a love that developed, he was quoted because he grew up near Chinatown. Fireside pieces are truly one of a kind and are considered works of art as well as jewelry.
